Controversial Sri Lankan rapper M.I.A. was the lady of the evening at HARD NYC, however, a slew of technicial problems and a torrential downpour cut her headlining set short.
Photographer’s Notes
To say that M.I.A.’s set was a disappointment is a vast understatement. Her microphone wasn’t working properly, the speakers screamed with feedback, the bass was bloated: it was a complete shitshow. Don’t take my word for it though, read this scathing review of M.I.A.’s performance by The New York Times. To make matters worse, the photo pit was completely overcrowded and the lighting treatment was brutal.
My exposure was 1/250 and f/2.8 at ISO 3200.
